Allied relations with Russia are a priority and a long-term strategic course for Belarus. This was stated by Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Alexander Rogozhnik at a solemn event dedicated to the Day of National Unity, which took place on September 18 in the Business and Cultural Complex of the Embassy, BelTA correspondent reports.

“Unfortunately, the current international situation is once again causing concern and alarm: armed conflicts are flaring up in various regions of the planet, xenophobia and nazism are on the rise. In these circumstances, Belarus stands in favor of the peaceful development of a multipolar world. In this regard, I would like to pay special attention to the allied relations with brotherly Russia, which are our priority and long-term strategic course, and are currently on the rise in all spheres, from culture to trade, economic, military and political interaction,” said Alexander Rogozhnik.

According to him, the record trade turnover with Russia in recent years, large-scale cooperation in the field of microelectronics, aircraft and machine tool construction, completion of the fundamental project of the Belarusian NPP became a response to the sanctions aggression of the West and allowed to ensure economic growth in both Belarus and Russia by almost 4% last year. “This year we continue to record positive trends,” the diplomat noted.

The ambassador emphasized that Belarus will continue its confident movement along the sovereign course under the leadership of national leader Alexander Lukashenko. “We will continue to develop a peaceful, socially just, industrialized Belarusian state, a responsible subject of integration associations with the Russian Federation and other allies,” he assured.

“One of the famous quotes of the Belarusian president says: “Strength is in the truth, and the truth is on our side!” And we are united in our desire to live on our land, with our own mind and labor. History teaches that by forgetting our past, abandoning it, we destroy the foundation on which the present is built. Therefore, we must never allow it to happen. As long as we remember, we live. The Republic of Belarus is a common cause, it is unity!” - added Alexander Rogozhnik.

Two exhibition projects prepared by the National Archives of Belarus were presented at the event. One of them was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the reunification of Western Belarus and the BSSR, the second one was devoted to the establishment of the institution of presidency and parliamentarism in Belarus. The event was followed by a concert of the National Academic Orchestra of Symphonic and Variety Music named after M.Y. Finberg.
