Belarusian BelAZ unaffected by lack of imports, external factors

Products made by BelAZ now are absolutely import-substituted and are not affected by external factors. Director General of the Belarusian automobile engineering company OAO BelAZ Sergei Nikiforovich made the statement at a conference held as part of the international industrial expo Innoprom in Yekaterinburg, Russia, BelTA has learned.

Sergei Nikiforovich said: “Independence is not simply a status. It is something you have to defend every hour, every minute. And the possibility of import substitution is one of the components of the country's independence. Having faced the negative influence of the so-called collective West, our company now deals with all the import substitution issues routinely.”
The BelAZ CEO noted that the process is very complicated and serious. “It is necessary to advance in all directions: banking and finance, logistics, manufacturing cooperation, plant and equipment, tools, software. But undertaking a great responsibility, we made important design and technological decisions and achieved rather serious success. This is why today our product is absolutely import-substituted and is not affected by external factors.”
In his words, the company primarily caters to its end consumers so that they could use BelAZ vehicles without any problems throughout their lifecycles. “Apart from that, in the course of implementing the import substitution program we simultaneously develop our suppliers, developers of materials and components,” the director general pointed out.
Sergei Nikiforovich said: “A forum of regions of Belarus and Russia took place in our country last week. During the forum BelAZ presented a brand new haul truck from the point of view of design and operational capabilities with the carrying capacity of 130 tonnes. It is a hybrid dump truck powered by drive batteries and a batch-produced Russian engine. The drive, the generator, the electric drive motor, and the high-strength metal are of Russian make. Software and design solutions are ours, for instance, the reduction gearbox of the motorized wheel and so on. So this new haul truck is 100% Belarusian-Russian.”
The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's largest manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for the mining industry and the civil engineering industry. BelAZ occupies about 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world's largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
