Belarus’ Maksim Maruk makes UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup semifinal

Belarusian athletes are competing in the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup in Budapest, Hungary, BelTA has learned.

In Qualifications C Maksim Maruk showed the highest points in fencing and swimming to progress to the semifinal in the second position. Belarus’ Artem Evstigneev finished 16th in Qualifications B.


The men’s semifinals are scheduled for 26 April. 


Mariya Gnedtchik and Anastasiya Prokopenko will represent Belarus in the women’s semifinals on 25 April. 36 athletes will compete for the finals.


The 2024 Pentathlon World Cup is a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics. All the points earned at five World Cup legs will be considered in the world rankings to give the nine best performers (among men and women apiece) the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics.
