Lukashenko and Putin congratulated border guards on their professional holiday

In his congratulation Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko stressed that for more than a century the history of the border service is inextricably linked with the establishment of the Belarusian statehood and is filled with vivid examples of valor and courage, the press service of the Belarusian head of state reported.

"Eighty-five years ago, in the first battles of the Great Patriotic War, the border guards, defending the sacred frontiers of the Soviet Motherland, stood to death. They died, but did not give up. The unparalleled feat of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers is an example of the courage and perseverance of soldiers in green caps and a vivid example for the younger generation," says Alexander Lukashenko's congratulation.

"Over the years of independence, a highly professional border service has been created in our country. Today, border guards, relying on the traditions and experience of veterans, skillfully apply the latest technologies in the field of security, reliably counteract all attempts to destabilize the situation on the borders of the Republic of Belarus," the Belarusian head of state noted. - "I am convinced that each of you will continue to do everything possible to preserve peace in your native land, to resolutely suppress any encroachments on the independence and territorial integrity of the Fatherland."

In conclusion, Alexander Lukashenko wished all servicemen, civilian personnel and veterans of the border service good health, happiness, prosperity and a peaceful sky overhead.

Vladimir Putin also congratulated the border guards on their professional holiday, noting that in the post-war period the "green berets" passed with honor, withstood many difficult trials: they destroyed Nazi accomplices and the nationalist underground, reacted harshly to attempts to illegally cross the state border, were a model of military valor, fulfilling international duty in Afghanistan, adequately solved responsible tasks in the fight against international terrorism.
