Glazyev expressed condolences to family of Nikolai Cherginets

On July 7, at the age of 89, national writer and statesman of Belarus Nikolai Cherginets passed away.

Nikolai Ivanovich took an active part in the creation and strengthening of the Union State, as well as in the development and implementation of a number of initiatives within the CIS framework and on the international stage.

State Secretary of the Union State Sergei Glazyev expressed his condolences on the passing of Nikolai Cherginets.

"It was with deep sorrow that we received the news of the passing of Nikolai Ivanovich Cherginets – an outstanding writer, statesman and public figure who made a immense contribution to the development of Belarusian literature and the strengthening of cultural ties between Belarus and Russia," said the condolence message.

The State Secretary of the Union State particularly noted the role of Nikolai Cherginets, who served as the permanent chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus and co-chairman of the Union of Writers of the Union State, in strengthening and expanding Belarusian-Russian cooperation.

"He stood at the origins of the creation of the Union of Writers of the Union State, and was the initiator and editor-in-chief of the magazine 'Belaya Vezha' – the official publication of the Union. We express our deep condolences and sincere sympathy in connection with the grief that has befallen you," the message states.
