A plan of measures to develop a vaccine against COVID-19 was examined at the constituent meeting of the inter-agency working group at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB).

“The participants to the meeting noted the need to set up a national scientific school from experts in order to adapt and evaluate the existing vaccines and develop the new ones against potentially dangerous agents. Particular attention was paid to the importance of developing a domestic vaccine against COVID-19, as there is a dependence of strains on a region,” the press service noted.

The scientists also suggested introducing an additional sub-program dedicated to COVID-19 research to the state program “Science Intensive Technologies.” The reports will be published in the leading scientific journals of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The meeting was presided by Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of National Assembly of Belarus, Academician Vladimir Gusakov. The meeting was attended by leading scientists and specialists of the NASB organizations and the Healthcare Ministry.
