Russia's Stavropol Territory interested in exploring full potential of cooperation with Belarus

Possible aspects of cooperation between Belarus and Stavropol Territory have not been fully examined. Governor of Russia's Stavropol Territory Vladimir Vladimirov mentioned it at a session of the working group on Belarus' cooperation with the Russian region, BelTA has learned.

Before the meeting Vladimir Vladimirov met with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko. “Aleksandr Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] said it right: the potential of Belarus' interaction with Stavropol Territory is not used in full. I think we have yet to fully examine the aspects of our cooperation. We continue opening up new possibilities during communication,” Vladimir Vladimirov noted.

According to the governor, the Russian region's delegation came to Belarus with specific goals in mind. Those include ensuring the development of the economy, the fleet of trams and fire trucks. Stavropol Territory is also interested in realizing the industrial potential and tourism potential together with Belarus.

During the meeting with the Belarus president it was noted that the possibility of restoring direct flights between Minsk and Mineralnye Vody is under consideration. Vladimir Vladimirov explained that Stavropol Territory is ready to consider the matter, in particular, the costs and resume discussions about the proposal.

In turn, Belarus is ready to offer cooperation in a number of areas starting with cutting-edge technologies for crop farming and selection, shipments of seeds and planting material and ending with the sharing of the best practices and the training of personnel for agribusiness. “I would like to draw attention to the varieties of crops of our Stavropol selection,” the governor noted.

Stavropol Territory is also interested in advancing cooperation in education.

Taking part in the session of the working group on the Russian side are representatives of government agencies, the private sector, heads of major cities located in Stavropol Territory, and legislative assembly members. During the session the sides discussed the advancement of cooperation in the manufacturing sector, agriculture, light industry, science, tourism, education as well as interregional interaction. There are plans to sign a number of documents as a result of the meeting.
