On this festive day, "Zhemchuzhina" welcomed representatives from the House of Representatives of the National Assembly – specifically Valery Malashko, Head of the Standing Commission on Healthcare, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy – and the Standing Committee of the Union State, represented by Viktor Sirenko, a consultant at the Committee’s Minsk office. Also in attendance were Igor Urban, Chairman of the Lepel District Council of Deputies; Olesya Chernaya, Head of the Vitebsk Regional Office of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment; and Sergey Meleshkin, Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Vitebsk Region.

Located in an ecologically pristine area of the Vitebsk region – near the town of Lepel and on the shores of the picturesque Lake Shchibot – the "Zhemchuzhina" children's camp has for 24 years been a key provider of health improvement and sanatorium-resort treatment programs for children from areas of Belarus and Russia affected by the Chernobyl disaster and other man-made catastrophes.

The initiative is implemented by the Standing Committee of the Union State.

This year, under an agreement between the Standing Committee of the Union State and the Children's Rehabilitation and Health Center, 242 children from Belarus and Russia are undergoing a course of treatment and health improvement at the sanatorium (these include children from the Tula, Kaluga, and Bryansk regions, the Altai Republic, and the Gomel, Grodno, and Mogilev regions).

Today marks one of the most vibrant and unifying events – Union State Day at the "Zhemchuzhina" camp. The program features the "Unity of Our States" ceremonial assembly and a thematic discussion forum with distinguished guests, the reopening of the local canteen following renovations, beach soccer and giant foosball tournaments, friendship relay races, workshops on national dance and cuisine, and other interactive activities designed to foster unity.

Incidentally, since 2002, 5,113 children have undergone health-improvement stays at the Zhemchuzhina Children’s Rehabilitation and Wellness Center under the Union State voucher program.
