Roman Golovchenko said: “Unfortunately, today we see attempts to review, revise, and falsify the history and results [of World War Two]. Some forces are intent on rearranging the world in new ways, on sowing mutual mistrust and discord, on disuniting people. Ferocious information attacks are launched against Belarus and Russia. They want to force us, descendants of the heroic winners, to feel guilt, to almost offer excuses for the fathers and forefathers, who paid with their lives to secure peace for the mankind.”
According to the prime minister, such attacks are part of the policy orchestrated to review the historical memory and demolish the collective mentality of the nations.
Roman Golovchenko said: “The Soviet Union is accused of starting World War Two. Soviet symbols are compared to those of the Nazi. People are forbidden to celebrate a sacred holiday [Victory Day] under banners of the Great Victory. Why is it being done? It is being done in order to erase the memory, break the internal fortitude, and employ dissent and chaos in order to possibly introduce external administration in our countries later on.”
The 7th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia is scheduled to take place on 28-29 September in the videoconference format. The main item on the agenda of the session is the historical legacy of the Great Victory as the foundation for bolstering social, economic, and spiritual ties between peoples of Belarus and Russia. Agreements and contracts worth about $700-750 million are supposed to be signed as a result of the forum.
