On 6 June, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, reports the press service of the head of state.

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church awarded President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with the Order of the Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow, First Class.

‘In Belarus they try to follow the commandments of God,’ the President assured the Patriarch.

"I thank you once again for finding the opportunity in the vast territory of the Russian Orthodox Church to visit Belarus. I am sure that indeed Belarus is in your heart. I am sure that you pay tribute to the peace and quiet in which our country is developing. Although, you see how it has happened before, and even in our memory - not everything is calm around Belarus. Someone is always angry about something. But we try not to violate the commandments of the Lord in Belarus. That's why we manage to realise these (initiatives and aspirations - BELTA note) and live more or less calmly", - said the head of state.

"Successfully realise them", - Patriarch Kirill remarked.

"I won't say that we are very rich. Whoever can, how he earns with the help of the Lord. But if you work, the Lord helps, we also remember this commandment", - Alexander Lukashenko added.

"Right", - agreed the Patriarch.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church thanked the head of the Belarusian state for what is happening in Belarus - a country, as he noted, close to his heart. Patriarch Kirill stressed that he, being a metropolitan in Smolensk, had often travelled through Belarus in his time, visited our country, so he can compare what huge changes have taken place during this time.

"Huge changes in the life of the country, and not only economic, not only in the welfare of the people, but also in the general atmosphere", - he said. - "And all this under your leadership. And, I think, many things were the result of your creative imagination - what the country, the people should be. All this is really being realised for the good of Belarus".

Patriarch Kirill emphasised the particularly good fraternal relations between the peoples of Belarus and Russia. "The Patriarch is the Patriarch of All Russia, including Belarus. And for me this factor - true friendship, mutual assistance - is a very important indicator of what is taking shape in interstate relations. Therefore, I would like to personally thank you, express gratitude and appreciation to the Belarusian people in your person", - said the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
