Belarus will benefit from the nuclear power plant as it is a reliable source of high-quality electricity, Director General of the Ukrainian company Ukrenergoatom Valery Tokar said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel on 8 November, BelTA has learned.

"A nuclear power plant is a reliable source of high-quality electricity. The launch of the nuclear power plant will certainly cause an imbalance for those companies that generate more expensive electricity," Valery Tokar said.

As for the concern on the part of Lithuania, Valery Tokar noted that this is a political issue. In this regard, Valery Tokar noted that he visited the Ostrovets nuclear power plant when the project was still at the pit stage. "Then, too, I thought that it was more of a political issue because the Baltic states were loudly protesting against the location," he added.

Speaking about the advantages of nuclear energy, Valery Tokar called it the main source of energy in the modern world. Its production is associated with minimal impact on the environment. Moreover, nuclear power plants have traditionally been the largest tax payers in a region they are located, which has always had a positive impact on the development of infrastructure, social and educational sectors.
