Putin satisfied with results of economic cooperation with Belarus

Results of Belarus-Russia economic cooperation are satisfactory. President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the statement as he met with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Moscow on 5 April, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Putin remarked that on 6 April the heads of state and the heads of government will meet for a session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. But the presidents decided to have a separate meeting the day before in order to once again discuss the entire range of matters in detail.
The Russian president said: “A great deal has been done as a result of our joint work. In all areas. We will discuss all of it tomorrow. It includes our interaction in the international scene and the joint resolution of issues to ensure the security of our states. But, of course, it is particularly pleasing to remark upon results of our work in the sphere of economy. According to our statistics, the volume of our trade increased over one year. Maybe not as much as trade with other countries (12% up) but it is still impressive in absolute terms, of course.”
According to the Russian side, in 2022 Belarus-Russia merchandise trade totaled $45 billion or about $50 billion if services are included. “It is a serious result of our joint work,” Vladimir Putin stressed.
The Russian leader added: “There are many other matters relating to the Union State construction. Thank you for coming the day before. It will give us an opportunity to talk in a calm and unstressed environment about what we will have to decide on and discuss in an official setting with our colleagues tomorrow.”
