Roman Golovchenko remarked that the model of Belarus' cooperation with Sverdlovsk Oblast can be referred to as an example of how balanced and dynamic relations with regions should be established. “We have very balanced trade and economic flows. Good dynamics and growth have been in place for many years. Work has been organized at many levels: from defense industry to light industry. Certainly, new avenues and new projects appear in every sphere periodically,” he said.
The manufacturing sector is the engine of cooperation because both Belarus and Sverdlovsk Oblast have well-developed manufacturing sectors, the prime minister stressed. “Despite the rather intensive pace of work new projects are also being born. One of them has a great future. It provides for setting up a new enterprise in Belarus to make high-strength hydraulics by [the Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer] BelAZ and a Sverdlovsk Oblast enterprise. These are very important parts and modules for the entire mechanical engineering industry of both Belarus and Russia. The joint venture will start working soon,” Roman Golovchenko shared the plans.
There are serious projects in the sphere of civil aviation. “I think we will reach an absolutely new standard in this sphere. Belarus has serious ambitions for becoming an aircraft manufacturing country with assistance of Russian colleagues. We will have to discuss some matters regarding it,” the Belarusian head of government noted.
Roman Golovchenko also remarked that Belarus had initiated the opening of a retail chain titled as Da Domu [To Home in Belarusian] in the Russian region. “It is a replacement for the IKEA and Zara Home stores that have withdrawn from the Russian market. This idea met lively interest. We will promote this initiative taking into account the number of people living in the region and the purchasing power. I hope we will visit this shop as early as next year,” he concluded.
A Belarusian government delegation led by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko came to Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russian Federation in order to participate in the international industrial expo Innoprom 2023. The solemn ceremony to open the expo will take place tomorrow, on 10 July. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin, and Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov will take part in the key strategy session Sustainable Manufacturing: Renewal Strategy of the international industrial expo Innoprom 2023.
