Buckwheat harvest in Belarus reaches 6,500 tonnes

The buckwheat harvest in Belarus has already exceeded 6,500 tonnes, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 31 August, over 97% of the area under grain and leguminous crops and 91% of the area under rapeseed was cleared in Belarus.

A total of 7,015,000 tonnes of grain was cropped. This included 6,045,000 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and about 948,000 tonnes of rapeseed.

Brest Oblast and Minsk Oblast completed harvesting early grain and leguminous crops.

Belarusian agricultural workers have started harvesting cereal crops: more than 6,500 tonnes of buckwheat and and about 6,000 tonnes of millet have been cropped.

Sowing of winter rapeseed for grain has been completed. All regions in Belarus have completed flax pulling. The flax straw harvest reached 57,000 tonnes.

Cereal and legume straws were harvested from 65% of the area. Primary tillage was conducted on 15% of the cleared area.

Belarusian agricultural workers are harvesting potatoes. Over 30,500 tonnes of potatoes have already been removed from fields. The yield is 383 centners per hectare. Some 1,515,000 tonnes of corn for silage have been cropped so far.
