Belarusian vice premier names measures to expand EAEU food market capacity

Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko named measures to ensure the growth of the capacity of the food market of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as he spoke at the 2nd Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow on 24 May, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about agriculture and food security, the deputy prime minister said that the current level of self-sufficiency of the EAEU in basic types of agricultural products and food was 93%.

“In order to increase the capacity of the EAEU food market and improve the availability of food for the population, it is reasonable to identify the list of critical imports to meet the needs of the food market of our countries, to provide equal legal framework for state support of agriculture and to ensure unconditional compliance with safety and quality requirements for our products at all stages of circulation in the food market,” Igor Petrishenko said.
