There are plans to buy four new high-performance cable weaving machines in 2023 to make multiple-strand steel-wire cable and metal cord, BelTA learned from Aleksandr Borikov, Deputy Director General for Commerce of OAO BMZ, managing company of the holding company BMC.

BMZ is considering the production of general metal goods as one of the ways forward. Four new high-performance cable weaving machines will be bought to increase the production of metal cord among other things. The cord is a component in the production of supersize tires. The supersize tire market looks promising for future development, the executive said.

Modernization of other BMZ departments will also continue. For instance, the railway division will get a new diesel locomotive. The relevant tender has been opened. Repairs and refurbishment of the existing vehicles and machines in this division will continue, too.

According to Aleksandr Borikov, BMZ smelted about 2 million tonnes of steel in 2022. He stressed that despite complicated geopolitical conditions the enterprise is turning a profit.
