Belarusian Agriculture and Food minister Sergei Bartosh gave his take on the progress of autumn field work as he spoke to the media on 19 September, BelTA has learned.

“This year we are ahead of schedule across the entire autumn field work. We plan to sow winter grain crops by the end of the month. As for corn, the corn for silage harvest rate is higher than last year. The harvest is much higher than we had in 2022. We also started harvesting corn for grain earlier than last year,” Sergei Bartosh said.

In addition to that, Belarusian farmers are currently harvesting potatoes and sugar beet.

“We plan to complete the corn harvesting before 15 October, because we can face frosts later. We also have excellent grasses, which need to be harvested before wintry weather arrives. All grasses should be harvested before 1 November at the latest to make it possible to prepare the areas for the next year's harvest,” the minister said.
