Belarus uses 20 Russian ports for cargo transshipment, Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich said in an interview with ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“Today we are working through 20 ports of the Russian Federation. The most frequently used are the ports of Leningrad Oblast and St. Petersburg (some 75-80% of cargoes),” Aleksei Lyakhnovich said.

He noted that last year was difficult in terms of building logistics. "We held negotiations with Russia, and signed two important documents. Last year we transshipped about 6.1 million tonnes through the ports of the Russian Federation. In January-August 2023 these figures exceeded 8.5 million tonnes,” the minister said.

Belarus also actively transports its cargoes by rail in the direction of China.
