Belarus, Russia discuss industrial cooperation, import substitution

Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi discussed industrial cooperation and import substitution with Sergey Mironov, head of A Just Russia - For Truth party in the Russian State Duma on 6 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the diplomatic mission.

“The parties discussed the development of Belarusian-Russian relations and the deepening of interstate integration processes within the Union State. Special attention was paid to the role of the parliaments in the legislative support of the main areas in the implementation of the provisions of the Union State Treaty for 2021-2023 and the 28 Union State programs. In particular, they touched upon the development of a common industrial policy, the implementation of joint projects and programs in import substitution,” the press service said.
Dmitry Krutoi stressed that the intensity of Belarusian-Russian contacts has lately increased. He emphasized the important role of cooperation between the regions of the two countries in strengthening multipronged Belarusian-Russian relations, and said that he would continue visiting Russian regions in the near future.
“Sergey Mironov supported such plans. He pointed out that in order to understand how Russia lives, it is necessary to visit its regions, get familiar with the features of every region. He expressed his opinion that the key issues are solved in Moscow. He added that Russia was a vast country with many things to see,” representatives of the embassy said.
The parties agreed on the development of working contacts between the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and A Just Russia fraction in the State Duma.
“In late January, the Russian government approved a draft agreement on a common industrial policy with Belarus. According to Dmitry Krutoi, this means opening the access of Russian companies to the Belarusian market and that of Belarusian companies to the Russian market, and primarily to the subsidy programs at the federal and regional levels,” the diplomatic mission added.
The meeting was also attended by Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Deputy Head of the faction, and Alexander Romanovich, the chairman's authorized representative for international affairs.
