The Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin held a meeting with State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Dmitry Mezentsev. Vyacheslav Volodin and Dmitry Mezentsev discussed preparations for the enlarged session of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, which will be devoted to the issues of healthcare development.
The Chairman of the State Duma emphasized that “within the framework of the Union State it is necessary to build common social standards so that quality medical care would be equally available to both Russian and Belarusian citizens. According to Vyacheslav Volodin, the key task of deputies is to legally ensure the decisions of Presidents Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko.
Dmitry Mezentsev informed Vyacheslav Volodin on the progress of work on the Union State draft budget for 2025, noting the possibility of expanding the number of programs and projects of the Union State with guaranteed provision of all existing ones. The State Secretary added that the proposals of the deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State will be taken into account when preparing the draft budget. In addition, Dmitry Mezentsev informed Vyacheslav Volodin about the work on the complete cancellation of roaming between Russia and Belarus. According to Vyacheslav Volodin, the citizens of our countries are looking forward to this.
The issues of humanitarian cooperation and preservation of the memory of the victory of our peoples in the Great Patriotic War, preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory were also discussed. The Standing Committee of the Union State is open to the deputies' proposals on these issues. “While in Europe they are trying to distort the historical truth, Russia and Belarus demonstrate to the whole world an example of careful attitude to the memory of the feat of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers,” Vyacheslav Volodin noted.
