Dmitry Mezentsev reminded that at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, which took place on 29 January, Heads of State Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, members of the Supreme State Council approved a plan for the implementation of measures dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Union State. One of the items provided for the issue of commemorative coins of different denominations by the Central Bank of Russia and the National Bank of Belarus.
"The face value of the Russian coins is 3 rubles, silver, it is more likely to interest collectors, and copper-nickel coin with a face value of 25 rubles. The execution is amazing, with coloured enamel, with ornaments traditional to the Belarusian and Russian national cultural traditions," said the State Secretary.
He added that the National Bank of Belarus also issued two coins: a silver one with the nominal value of 20 rubles and a copper-nickel one with the nominal value of 1 Belarusian ruble.
"I think we'll all be interested to put such a coin in our pocket or purse," said Dmitry Mezentsev. "The association of the Belarusian national flag and the Russian tricolour on the obverse of the coins is also a very important sign." "I also note that the words ‘Union State’ and ‘Sayuznaya Dzyarzhava’ are written in Belarusian and Russian languages," added the State Secretary.
