Together Belarus and Russia are becoming more competitive and resistant to all challenges, State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Dmitry Mezentsev said ahead of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Belarusian economic bodies on 20 August, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about the development of a real economic integration agenda, Dmitry Mezentsev said that all the work that was carried out since December 2018 was aimed at ensuring that the economic potentials of Russia and Belarus complement each other. “It has been done to help us become more competitive, more resistant to all the challenges: both the pandemic and sanctions in the economic and financial sectors, which the West imposes on us,” said Dmitry Mezentsev.

According to him, this should steer both countries away from developing unnecessary industries that become unwitting competitors to each other. “We are working to unite our engineering and technological schools in favor of the joint result, which is to enter new segments of the world market,” he said.
