“At the moment construction and installation works at the first power unit of the BelNPP are 98% complete. At present, finishing and landscaping works are being completed. Nuclear fuel was delivered to the site in May of that year. It passed the entrance control and was placed in a storage facility. In August, we are planning to start loading nuclear fuel into the reactor as well as to launch transition to first criticality, and subsequently to first start,” Vasily Polyukhovich said.
So far, about 72% of construction and installation works have been completed at the second power unit. Now precommissioning is underway.
The BelNPP in Ostrovets, Grodno Region, is being built according to the Russian WWER-1200 project. The plant is going to consist of two 1200 MW power units each.
