"In our country, you are known as a good friend of Belarus. With your appointment to this important position our cooperation will surely continue and will be constructive,” Natalya Kochanova said. “The relations between our countries are strategic. We are good friends. We are brothers. All the tasks that our countries are facing today are very important for us. So is our interaction.”
The speaker stressed that the two countries maintain an engaged dialogue absolutely in all areas. "The historical traditions and bonds between our peoples help us with this. There's no doubt about that. The visit of the Belarusian president to Russia's Far East together with the Russian president once again highlighted the open and good nature of the relations between the countries. There are practically no closed topics for either Russians or Belarusians.”
Natalya Kochanova stressed the importance of parliamentary cooperation. "The Federation Council and the National Assembly of Belarus cooperate very closely in absolutely all areas. We keep in close touch in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the CIS and the CSTO Inter-Parliamentary Assemblies. For many years we have been running a very important event, namely the Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia. It crowns the work for a past year. Our governors meet, contracts and agreements are signed," the speaker continued. “This year we are planning a new important event for the youth - The Train of Memory that will bring together schoolchildren of Belarus and Russia, 100 people from each country. The start will be given in Brest. Our children will visit 14 cities of Belarus and Russia.” In each of them, the train will make stops for the children to visit memorable places connected to the events of the Great Patriotic War. The project will finish in Minsk on 3 July.
"All ministries and departments got engaged in this work to make sure the the project is successful. We hope that it will become traditional as it is meant to help young people to make new friends and learn more about our history," Natalya Kochanova noted.
