“We will decide on the new government. I would like you to have your say on this matter,” the head of state noted.
“We need to put together a commission consisting of senior officials. The government keeps performing its duties after resignation. We need to look through the list now, starting from the prime minister up to the head of the concern and governors. This commission will include Kochanova, Sergeyenko [heads of the parliament chambers], the prosecutor general and so on - the top-tier officials. I would like you to submit your proposals, we will consider them when making decisions,” the president informed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that some of his authorized representatives are very competent and well-versed in certain areas. For example, Dmitry Shevtsov and Oleg Rummo are deeply immersed in public health issues and can offer a professional opinion in this field, because they know in detail what is happening there. “If you don't want to do it publicly, do it in writing and give it to me in an envelope. No one reads or opens it except me, not even aides. I do this personally,” the head of state added.
“Now it is very important to form a strong government that will not go around nagging. We all have issues to deal with and things will not be easy for anyone. But we need to plough through, we need to work,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that he appointed many ministers before the election: “This was a natural thing to do. But this does not mean that they received some special or preferential treatment. You [reference to the authorized representatives and members of the future commission] need to independently assess the performance of the new appointees. Share your views with the commission, put it on paper and submit a report to me.”
“I don't want to be the only one making such decisions and I want to skip the usual scheme of decision-making. We need to get exhaustive information on everyone. You should collect tidbits from journalists, ordinary people, from anyone. Everything needs to be taken into consideration and analyzed in order to put forward appropriate proposals,” the head of state added.
