Sasnovich to face Vickery in Stuttgart Open first-round clash

MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 110 Aliaksandra Sasnovich will kick off the Stuttgart Open campaign against world number 134 Sachia Vickery of the United States, BelTA has learned.

Aliaksandra Sasnovich reached the main draw following two victories in the qualifying: 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) against Jana Fett of Croatia and 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 against Oceane Dodin of France.

Belarus’ world number 2 Aryna Sabalenka will open her Stuttgart Open run against either World No.93 Paula Badosa of Spain or World No.62 Diana Shnaider of Russia. Aryna Sabalenka was the finalist of the three previous editions of the event. In 2019 she lost to Australia’s Ashleigh Barty, and then lost twice to world number one Iga Swiatek of Poland.


The current event will be over on 21 April. The winner will get 500 points, €123,400, and also all-electric Porsche Taycan 4S Sport Turismo.
