Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Aleksandr Baraulya shared with journalists his expectations of the 2nd CIS Games, BelTA has learned.

“We are in high spirits, but we also keep in mind that it is a huge responsibility. One of the highlights of the multisport event will be the opening ceremony, but I would not like to reveal all the details now. I can only say that we will showcase traditional Belarusian culture and modern-day Belarus. It will be spectacular and unforgettable. I am sure that all spectators and members of the delegations will like it. It is noteworthy that the competitions will be held at unique venues. For example, Thai boxing competitions will take place at the Summer Amphitheater in Vitebsk. Last week we held test competitions there, and it turned out great. Those who will come to see the competitions will definitely not regret it,” the deputy minister said.

Aleksandr Baraulya also mentioned entertainment events for athletes and tourists. “Each region has prepared a sightseeing program for fans who will arrive in Belarus during the Games. We want to show the beauty of our country, in particular, its sacred places. We also have a program for athletes, because the Games will be a unique opportunity for them to see cultural and historical sites that are many in our country. Delegations have already begun to arrive in Belarus, and everyone says how beautiful the country is and how amazing our nature is,” Aleksandr Baraulya noted.

The 2nd CIS Games will take place from 4 to 14 August. The opening and closing ceremonies are scheduled for 5 and 13 August.
