Belarusian taekwondo athletes claim 34 medals at Russian Open

More than 30 Belarusian taekwondo athletes won medals at the international Russian Open tournament in Odintsovo, Moscow Oblast, BelTA learned.

The competition brought together athletes in four age categories: boys and girls U15, juniors U18, U21 athletes, and men and women. Belarusians won 34 medals, including three golds. The winners were Daniil Yurkou (up to 87kg), Pavel Nikitsin (U21, up to 63kg) and Anastasiya Kurylionak (U21, up to 62kg).
Eight Belarusian athletes finished second in their respective weight categories: Artsiom Babakhin (up to 80kg), Darya Navitskaia (up to 67kg), Matsvei Miatlitski (U21, up to 68kg), Aliaksei Davidovich (U21, over 87kg), Bahdan Aliyeu (U18, up to 78kg), Artsiom Tsetsera (U18, up to 73kg), Matsvei Krasutski (U18, up to 59kg) and Uladzislau Butsko (U15, up to 53kg). The Belarusian team also collected 23 bronze medals.
Taekwondo athletes from 10 countries - Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Cote d'Ivoire, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Türkiye, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan - competed at the Russian Open. Belarus finished second in the medal standings behind Russia.
