The United Nations Children's Fund and the game developer Wargaming have donated a large batch of 91,000 FFP3-grade filter masks to the Emergency Medical Aid Center of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry, representatives of the UNICEF office in Belarus told BelTA.

These masks offer the best air filtering capability. The World Health Organization encourages medics that work with COVID-19 patients to use this kind of masks. The masks will soon be delivered to the medical institutions that need them most: 20% to healthcare institutions in Minsk, 12.5% to Minsk Oblast, Gomel Oblast, and Brest Oblast each, 10% to Grodno Oblast, Mogilev Oblast, Vitebsk Oblast each, and 2.5% to medical institutions accountable to other government agencies.

Head Physician of the Emergency Medical Aid Center of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry Eduard Valchuk thanked the sponsors on behalf of all those healthcare institutions. “Respirators with such an advanced degree of protection are in high demand everywhere. They will be a great help and will make Belarusian medics safer,” he noted.

Wargaming Company covered half of the batch's cost. The other half was covered by the emergency fundraiser UNICEF launched in Belarus on 29 April. Four companies and 814 natural persons pitched in. The masks were delivered with assistance of the manufacturer's dealership in Belarus.

The UNICEF-sponsored fundraising campaign continues. Donations to medics that help COVID-19 patients can be made via the UNICEF website.
