Moscow suffered enormous losses during the Great Patriotic War. Tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians fought and died in the city and its environs, and many streets and districts are forever associated with heroism and tragedy. Moscow is home to hundreds of military graves and monuments dedicated to the defenders of the Motherland—from Red Army soldiers to partisans and civilians who suffered under Nazi occupation and bombing.

Today, in Moscow, on holidays and other days alike, people come to memorials, mass graves, and obelisks to honor the memory of the heroes and victims of the war. They come because they remember and honor the heroic deeds of their ancestors. This is precisely what they did yesterday, attending the requiem concert "Every Third" in the Grand Hall of the Kremlin Palace, BelTA reports. This touching musical and poetic program, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the memory of more than three million civilians and prisoners of war who died during the Great Patriotic War, struck a chord with every viewer and left no one indifferent.

For a long time, it was believed that every fourth Belarusian citizen perished, but more accurate data shows that every third life fell victim to the war.

The memorial concert featured both well-known Soviet songs about the war and Victory, as well as modern military-themed compositions. The program included unique newsreel footage and photographic documentation, and the poetic basis was Anatoly Vertinsky's "Requiem for Every Fourth." The program premiered last May in Moscow, on Poklonnaya Hill. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a series of memorial concerts was held in April of this year at the Palace of the Republic in Minsk, attended by audiences from all regions of Belarus.

The chief director of the "Every Third" memorial concert, Vladislava Artyukovskaya, artistic director of the Youth Variety Theater, explained that each concert has its own specific variations. "We cross out 'Every Fourth' and write 'Every Third.'" "Every year, if not every day, investigations are conducted. Our prosecutor's office conducts them. Therefore, each concert is distinguished by updated information," she explained.

The concert at the Kremlin Palace features the latest documentary evidence on the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War. "Of course, the venue itself suggested that we would intensify the action. More people are participating, we are doing it on a larger scale," Vladislava Artyukovskaya noted.

In Belarus, the theme of the Great Patriotic War and the Great Victory is a very intimate and sacred part of history, said singer and performer Anna Blagova. She emphasized that in our country, this sacred holiday is always celebrated with particular sorrow. "On this day, in our country, not only well-known songs from the front and post-war are performed, but we also honor the memory of heroes and write new compositions, new songs. In fact, the requiem concert is a tribute to the memory of the Soviet soldiers who perished in the name of peace today on our Belarusian soil. "It is a great honor and joy for us to be visiting the great Russian land today, in the Kremlin Palace, and to bring our attitude, our feelings, and our memories," the singer-songwriter shared.

The Kremlin Palace also hosted the exhibitions "Fates Folded into a Triangle" by BELTA and "Partisans of Belarus" by the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House. Guests had the opportunity to sample various types of wartime bread: Stalingrad bread, Siege bread, and others.

The program's presentation at the Kremlin Palace was supported by the Standing Committee of the Union State, the Ministries of Culture of Belarus and Russia, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, and the Rosconcert company.
