Republic-Wide Kindness and Magic Campaign “Our Children” Starts on December 9th

The republic-wide charity event “Our Children” is being held from December 9th, 2019 to January 10th, 2020. Over ninety institutions, organizations and enterprises of the country are planning to participate, said a consultant of the Social, Educational and Ideological Activity Department of the Ministry of Education of Belarus Larisa Emelianchik, reports the correspondent of the Union State portal.

Larisa Emelyanchik said that starting the following week schoolchildren and preschool children, children in foster and guardian families, family-type foster homes, as well as children with disabilities and other children who need special care of the state would be able to enjoy various festive and New Year events organized specially for them.
“The campaign is a testament to the complete unity in the society when it comes to children in difficult situations. Every year, on the eve of Christmas and New Year holidays, senior officials, heads of ministries, representatives of state bodies, banks and public associations pay visits to socially significant facilities. They wish children a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, give them presents,” said Larisa Emelianchik.
Most often, children are presented with sweets, technical devices and sports equipment. In some institutions, children write a letter to Santa Claus where they express their wishes. And then they find their cherished gift under the Christmas tree.
The speaker noted that last year more than 1.5 million Belarusian rubles were raised for children as part of the campaign. Over 15 thousand small Belarusians received help, while almost 230 thousand children became participants of the event.
“Over the years the campaign has been held, many organizations have developed friendly and guardian relations with residential care homes. As a result, they support children not only during the campaign, but throughout the year,” added Larisa Emelianchik.
The central event of the republic-wide charity event “Our Children” is a traditional New Year charity festival for children. The event is going to be held at the Palace of the Republic on December 23th. More than 2 thousand children aged 8 to 14 from all regions of the country have already been invited to this New Year party.
