Putin: Belarus will be among first countries to receive Russian vaccine for coronavirus

Belarus will be one of the first countries to receive the Russian vaccine for coronavirus, Russian President Vladimir Putin said as he met with members of the Russian government on 26 August, TASS reports.

We discussed this with Aleksandr Lukashenko and agreed that Belarus will join the Phase III trials of this vaccine and then will be one of the first to receive it, the Russian leader said.
Vladimir Putin instructed Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova to accomplish this work together with her colleagues from Belarus.
For her turn, Tatyana Golikova informed that 27 countries have already expressed their readiness to buy the Russian vaccine. She specified that the matter is about different formats, including joint developments, clinical studies, procurement, production on the territory of foreign countries, humanitarian aid.
Sputnik V was registered on 11 August to become the world's first state-registered vaccine for coronavirus. It was developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. All in all, more than 160 vaccines are being developed in the world; more than 30 of them have reached trials in humans.
