The official said: “We are now working to make pilot specializations available. We intend to enroll the first cadets in 2021. Requirements for entrance exams have been worked out as well as for physical and psychological evaluations, medical certification of the entrants. The Aviation Department has developed rules for training pilots. We are now choosing aircraft. Design documents for building a training center in the Belarusian State Aviation Academy are being prepared as well.”

The Belarusian State Aviation Academy will offer theoretical training while the Minsk aeroclub of the DOSAAF (the Voluntary Society for Assisting the Army, the Air Force, and the Navy) will teach pilots how to fly. The Diamond aeroclub is also interested in training pilots. Cadets are expected to fly for at least 200 hours in order to meet international standards. Flight training will be organized in compliance with standards of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in order to give Belarusian pilots a competitive edge on the labor market.

Artyom Sikorsky stressed that there is a strong demand for aviation specialists both in Belarus and abroad.
