Answering journalists' questions about what exactly is being implemented in the industry's new mechanisms, Sergey Poddubko emphasized that new technologies are the primary focus. "We work full cycle: from design, calculations, engineering, to testing and certification. Therefore, all of these areas are in demand. All of these areas are developing. The main trends in our industry are electrification, unmanned systems, and robotics," the CEO said.
It was noted that specialists from the Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus have also fully mastered electric drives. "We create electric drives for traction, power, and auxiliary transport, and we also have developments in the field of driverless vehicles. Electric drives are highly efficient. Their efficiency is several times higher than that of conventional heating systems. Process automation is also important, including driver and pedestrian safety. The vehicle is equipped with modern electronic systems that help the driver operate the vehicle safely. And these systems, this electronic system, are being developed, including by us."
The institute has developed electric passenger cars and trucks, as well as industrial machines. We also have developments in the field of unmanned transport equipment.
"Our partners include virtually all major enterprises in our mechanical engineering complex: BelAZ, MAZ, MTZ, Belkommunmash, the Motor Plant, and others. We have joint projects with each of them and help them create new, modern technology," shared the general director of the mechanical engineering institute.
Thus, this year, the institute, in collaboration with BELGEE, has produced five electric passenger vehicles. "We tested them this year. We continue to test new types of electric drives. We're perfecting, so to speak, electric trucks. We have them here, too. We're working on driverless vehicles; in particular, this year, the first two BelAZ driverless dump trucks using our technology are already being tested at the Mikashevichi quarry," concluded Sergey Poddubko.
