Belarusian defense minister, Russian ambassador discuss cooperation in military sphere

Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin has met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The sides analyzed the current state of cooperation and discussed promising avenues of future interaction. The conversation focused on preparing for and carrying out joint events in 2020. The main ones are the ninth Moscow conference on international security, events timed to the celebration of the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the International Army Games 2020, the sixth international defense technology forum Army 2020, and a session of the joint board of the Belarusian Defense Ministry and the Russian one.

Viktor Khrenin remarked that Belarusian-Russian cooperation in the military sphere is strategic and represents an inalienable part of the spectrum of bilateral and multilateral relations. It plays an important role in ensuring military security of Belarus.

The sides confirmed their readiness for future cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
