The Treaty on Security Guarantees between Belarus and the Russian Federation confirms unity and joint response to threats. This was stated by State Secretary of the Union State Dzmitry Mezentsev to journalists, BELTA informs.

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a protocol on the exchange of diplomas on the ratification of the Treaty on Security Guarantees within the framework of the Union State in Moscow today.

‘Today, the entry into force of this treaty confirms the unity and joint response to any threats, as well as joint discussion of plans to improve the armed forces within the military grouping that exists and operates in the territory of the Republic of Belarus,’ Dmitry Mezentsev said.

‘The document is global and very substantial. It confirms that no threats against Belarus and Russia can be considered separately. This is a joint response, joint analysis, joint forecasting and, of course, cohesion - political and diplomatic cohesion, as well as unconditional interaction of defence departments,’ added the Secretary of State.
