Russia’s Leningrad Oblast has taken first place in meat product imports via the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), the BUCE press service told BelTA.

According to data for H1 2026, companies from Leningrad Oblast became the largest foreign buyers of meat products on BUCE, outperforming all other Russian regions and foreign countries in transaction volume.

From January to June, Leningrad exchange traders purchased over 9,000 tonnes of meat products on BUCE for a total of $58 million. As a result, compared to the same period in 2025, procurement volumes rose by 18% in volume and by 35% in value. In addition to Leningrad Oblast, the top five Russian importers of Belarusian meat products via BUCE included companies from the Moscow Oblast, Smolensk Oblast, Novgorod Oblast, and Belgorod Oblast.

Among non-CIS countries, China is the leader in purchases of meat and semi-finished meat products on the exchange platform. In January-June 2026, Chinese residents imported 2,200 tonnes of Belarusian meat products worth $9 million via the exchange. Consequently, the growth rate of physical sales volumes reached 88% compared to January-June 2025, while sales increased 2.2-fold in value.

“To date, both frozen and chilled beef is the most in-demand export item in the Meat and Meat Products category. Its share in the structure of offshore exchange transactions for meat products accounts for about 90%. At the same time, amid high demand for beef in Russia and China, pricing dynamics in exchange trade favor Belarusian producers. In particular, price quotes for frozen bone-in beef with delivery to China, which is popular among non-resident buyers, rose by 4.6% - from $2.40 per kilogram in April to $2.51 per kilogram in June. As for prices for the Russian market, for example, the beef outside flat (silverside) rose in price by 2.1% to RUB564 per kilogram, while the inside round (topside) went up by 8.6% to RUB605 per kilogram. In early July, the upward price trend in the meat products segment persists,” the BUCE press service noted.

Exchange trade of meat and edible meat offal for export is conducted on BUCE three times a week. During H1 2026, price growth during sessions generated $2.3 million in additional revenue for Belarusian participants.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods. rapeseed meal.
