Belarus, Russia’s Sverdlovsk Oblast step up trade, industrial cooperation

Cooperation between Belarus and Sverdlovsk Oblast of Russia is very robust, Belarus’ Consul General in Yekaterinburg Sergei Chichuk said at the INNOPROM international industrial exhibition in Yekaterinburg, BelTA learned from the press service of the government.

According to Sergei Chichuk, more than 100 trolleybuses manufactured by Belkommunmash and MAZ have been delivered to the region. Belarus hosts a joint production facility for hydraulic products and an engineering center of the Shvabe holding company.
“We are working together on launching aviation equipment manufactures in Belarus and Russia. A good example is the cooperation between Kalinin Machine-Building Plant and the Belarusian company Amkodor. They have agreed to assemble equipment both in Belarus and in Yekaterinburg,” Sergei Chichuk said.
The first Belarusian five-tonne loader assembled in Yekaterinburg is on display at the INNOPROM exhibition. “Belarus will produce a transport trolley and a municipal utility vehicle. At first this will be a large-unit assembly that will be localized then. Anything that both sides wish to localize can be localized. The main requirement is that the localized products be cheaper than the original,” he added.
Belarus’ trade with Sverdlovsk Oblast has been growing for the sixth consecutive year. “We have already come close to $1 billion in trade. Moreover, many Belarusian manufacturers have partners, dealers, and signature stores in Sverdlovsk Oblast. There are more than 50 Belarusian food product stores in Yekaterinburg, and all Belarusian machinery manufacturers have their service centers here,” Sergei Chichuk said.
