Belarus, Russia customs chiefs discuss advanced technology solutions

Chairman of Belarus’ State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky and Head of Russia’s Federal Customs Service Valery Pikalyov discussed information exchange and the introduction of advanced technological solutions during a bilateral meeting on 13 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Customs Committee.

The parties focused on the electronic exchange of information on goods transported across the Belarusian-Russian section of the border, including advance shipment data. According to the participants, this will help prevent violations of customs legislation during the transportation of goods.

The sides also discussed further improvements to technological procedures and greater automation of customs control processes.

The meeting was held as part of a joint border inspection between Belarus and Russia.
