Preserving the historical truth is something that cements Belarus-China friendship, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said at a meeting with outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong on 4 September

"You have been in office since October 2020. I have been honored and delighted to work with you, seeing your commitment to achieving all the goals set by our leaders. You came during the most challenging period – the pandemic. In this regard, knowing your involvement, I must express deep gratitude to the Chinese people and the Chinese [Communist] Party for the humanitarian aid that you have supplied to help our country fight against this pandemic. Certainly, we returned the favor. In the very first year [of the pandemic] we sent everything we could to the People's Republic of China," Nikolai Snopkov said.

He recalled that Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang paid a historic visit to Belarus within Xie Xiaoyong's term of office: “We share the opinion that it was a very successful, friendly and well-meaning visit. Thank you for this, because we know your great role in arranging this visit.”
Nikolai Snopkov also believed that preserving the historical truth is a crucial element of Belarus-China friendship. “As the president said, the Second World War is our common pain. The victory in it is also common,” he emphasized.
