Poland opened its border with Belarus during the night of 25 September, BelTA has learned.

The Border Guard of the Republic of Poland closed its checkpoints on the Polish-Belarusian border on the night of 12 September. The affected road crossings were Brest – Terespol and Kozlovichi - Kukuryki along with four railway border crossings: Grodno - Kuznica Bialostocka, Berestovitsa - Zubki Bialostockie, Svisloch - Siemianowka and Brest - Terespol. The Polish side did not specify when the checkpoints would resume operations.

On 23 September, the State Border Committee of Belarus received an official notification from the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland about the reopening of the checkpoints on the Belarusian-Polish border, which were closed almost two weeks ago, at 01:00 on 25 September (Belarusian time). At that time, Polish border guards had erected barriers on the bridge leading to the Brest checkpoint using concrete blocks, anti-tank obstacles, barbed wire, and metal shields. During the day of 24 September, Polish border guards removed the barbed wire and began dismantling heavy engineering structures that required special equipment, leaving only metal shields on the bridge over the Bug River. Their removal began closer to 1:00 a.m. on 25 September (Belarusian time), thereby reopening the border between Poland and Belarus.

Belarusian border guards started allowing vehicles into the territory of the Brest border checkpoint at 23:00 on September 24. After completing the necessary clearance procedures, buses and passenger cars proceeded onto the bridge to await entry into Poland.
