PM: Belarusian economy remains on growth course in January

The Belarusian economy remained on the growth course in January, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during a meeting of the Council of Ministers in Minsk on 19 February, BELTA has learned.

“The information is in on how we performed in January. The economy is maintaining its growth trend. GDP surged by 3.7%. We see good pace in construction, agriculture, information and communications. The consumer activity remains high enough. Retail significantly increased while the inflation was moderate,” Roman Golovchenko said.

Industrial production went up by almost 3% in January. “The start of the year was not bad, but we need to add in order to meet the Q1 target. Let me remind you, it is +3.7%,” the prime minister noted.
