MPs of Algeria, Belarus to exchange expertise in legislative matters

The Algeria-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National People’s Assembly of the Parliament of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, headed by President of the Algeria-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group Hadjira Abbas, arrived in Belarus at the invitation of the House of Representatives, BelTA learned from the House of Representatives.

The visit of the Algerian parliamentarians will be the first in the history of bilateral relations; it will be running from 10 to 13 September 2025.

A joint meeting of the Belarus-Algeria Cooperation Group of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Algeria-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National People’s Assembly of the Parliament of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria will be held during the visit.

The agenda includes a meeting between Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov and an Algerian parliamentary delegation, followed by the delegation’s tour of several key Belarusian enterprises and organizations.

The parties are set to discuss a broad range of measures to strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue, with the goal of deepening bilateral cooperation across trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian domains. A further key objective is to ramp up the exchange of expertise in legislative processes.

The Belarus-Algeria Cooperation Group of the National Assembly of Belarus was established in May 2024. The group is chaired by Ruslan Kosygin, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Standing Commission on National Security.

The Algeria-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group was officially launched within Algeria’s National People’s Assembly in October 2024. 

According to its press service, the groups’ mandate is to foster stronger bilateral relations and support the implementation of intergovernmental agreements at the high and highest levels through the tools of parliamentary diplomacy.
