I am ready to stop energy transit if Poland closes the border, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with Dmitry Kiselyov, Director General of the Russian state news agency MIA Rossiya Segodnya, BelTA has learned.

“As Poland together with others takes more action against Belarus, do they think I am going to stick to some contracts? Come on. They should know better. Poland has this idea to close the border with Belarus. Fine, let them do it. We do not go to in the European Union very often. Today our interests lie mostly in Russia, China and the East. And what if I close the border? What will happen to the flow which mostly goes to Russia, China via Belarus?” the head of state said.

The president added that Ukraine is not an option for moving European goods to Russia. There are no transit routes via the Baltic states either. “They have only Belarus. Therefore, before making any statements, they should think hard first. Poland will close the border... Who will they harm more? Themselves. One more thing is important here. If they close it, then they need to think how they are going to buy energy from Russia,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
