Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi met with outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong on 4 September

“The period of your diplomatic work in Belarus flew by very fast. During your four-year tenure in Minsk, four meetings of our leaders took place,” the head of the Belarus President Administration remarked. The Chinese ambassador, in turn, recalled that Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang paid an official visit to Belarus in August. “It was also a historic event,” he said.

“You are completing your diplomatic mission in Minsk on a high note,” Dmitry Krutoi noted.

He emphasized that he is ready to make every effort to deepen bilateral cooperation.

According to Xie Xiaoyong, in recent years, relations between Belarus and China have reached a completely different level. The diplomat recalled that Belarus was one of the first to provide humanitarian aid to China when the coronavirus pandemic broke out there. The Chinese partners returned the favor and helped Belarus fight against COVID-19.

“Our joint fight against the pandemic has vividly demonstrated the true meaning of the proverb ‘a friend in need is a friend indeed’,” said the Chinese diplomat.

The parties discussed the state and prospects for bilateral cooperation, including inter-regional contacts.
