The interparliamentary cooperation between Belarus and Kazakhstan is gaining momentum, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said as she met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Timur Zhaksylykov on 27 February, BelTA has learned.

“As for interparliamentary cooperation, I would like to highlight the intensification of our interaction. We are doing quite well,” Natalya Kochanova said. "We have an interparliamentary commission on cooperation [between the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Parliament of Kazakhstan], there was a meeting of this commission. On the sidelines of the CIS IPA session in St. Petersburg I met with my colleague Maulen Ashimbayev [Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan]. Belarusian parliamentarians were invited to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan. Certainly, we were happy to accept this invitation. We will definitely agree on the dates for our official visit to Kazakhstan. I also invited my colleague to pay an official visit to Belarus.”

This cooperation is extremely important, the speaker stressed. “The exchange of official visits helps us to determine our further cooperation,” Natalya Kochanova added. "It is important for our colleagues, senators, to cooperate, communicate and promote initiatives for the benefit of our peoples.”
