The CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives will convene for a meeting at the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War on 6 May, CIS First Deputy Secretary General Igor Petrishenko told reporters, BelTA learned.

“You know that Victory Day is one of the biggest and most revered holidays in all countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Unfortunately, every year there are fewer and fewer veterans, and we must do our best to preserve the memory of the great feat, defend it and pass it on to future generations. Back then we won Victory together as a united country,” Igor Petrishenko said.

“We, by the way, have planned a meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives at the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War on 6 May. Before that, we will lay flowers at the memorial sites that are associated with the heroes of the Soviet Union - natives of the Commonwealth of Independent States,” Igor Petrishenko said.

The CIS permanent plenipotentiary representatives gathered in Minsk on 22 April. They are set to consider a draft press release on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
