Belarusian military to participate in strategic command and staff exercise in Russia

A Belarusian army unit will take part in the strategic command and staff exercise Kavkaz 2020 [Caucasus] in Russia on 21-26 September, the Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The Belarusian army will be represented by a battalion tactical group of a mechanized infantry brigade. Up to 12,900 military personnel, up to 250 tanks, up to 450 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers, up to 200 artillery systems and multiple-launch rocket systems are supposed to be deployed for the exercise.

The exercise will be divided into two stages. During the first one military command bodies will make combat plans. Interaction between military contingents of the participating states in the course of repulsing air assault weapons and in the course of reconnaissance and defensive actions will be practiced. During the second stage direct control over the troops during joint combat actions will be practiced.

Practical measures meant to practice the deployment and the actual territorial defense will be part of the exercise as well.
