MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) - Belarus stays committed to restoring peace, security and stability on the European continent, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said in his lecture during an event at the Palace of the Republic on 2 September to mark Knowledge Day and the start of the new academic year at the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“As it is seen, the crisis of the international and European security architecture is directly projected onto Belarus, which is an integral part of it. Being in the center of Europe, we are most interested in restoring peace, security and stability on the European continent and are doing everything possible for this purpose,” the minister of foreign affairs said.

He noted: “We believe that if today the great powers cannot reach an agreement, it does not mean that small and medium-sized states like us should sit and wait patiently. We are not waiting, but looking for compromises and solutions.”

“In November 2024 we are set to hold an international conference on countering illegal migration in the region. All stakeholders, including neighboring countries, other EU and CIS states, are invited to attend” Maksim Ryzhenkov said.

“A number of ministers of the European Union have already confirmed their participation,” the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs added.

In October 2023 Belarus initiated and successfully held a high-level international conference “Eurasian security: reality and prospects in a transforming world” in Minsk.
