“The Union State is a reality. In this world it is rather difficult to enter mainstream politics alone. We, as scientists whose writings thoroughly and comprehensively describe the history of the Union State, whose works are presented here at the exhibition, see the pros of this fact, but at the same time do not ignore the cons. We would like the Union State to become a kind of synergy, a fruitful synergy of the two states’ efforts,” said Mr. Chesnovsky.
Moreover, he emphasized that the existence of the Union State should not cause any international legal issues or complications at the UN level. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the attitude of the neighboring states, as well as the opinion of the two countries’ peoples.
“We, the historians of this process, will have to think long and hard so as to give scientifically based, deeply thought-out advice, recommendations to politicians and statesmen. I want to emphasize that the Union State of Belarus and Russia is a phenomenon that has become a reality,” summed up Mr. Chesnovsky.
